Youth Involvement and Opportunities

Each season, the Visiting Artists Series works to coordinate inspiring learning activities between its artists and area students. That can involve master classes, on-stage collaborations, special performances, etc. This past season, in addition to the annual MSO holiday concert for District and other area students, which is underwritten by the Rita Edquist Memorial Fund, there were several other outreach activities our young people enjoyed.

Six Appeal Vocal Band Master Class for CHS Students

The Visiting Artists Series coordinated a master class between CHS music students and the Six Appeal Vocal Band, an award-winning a cappella ensemble. Six Appeal rehearsed with the students and led a discussion about what it’s like being a professional a cappella group. The group also invited the CHS Bella Voce/A Cappella Choir to perform with them on stage later that evening. It was a great experience for CHS music students and the audience members listening to them!

I AM…HE SAID Performance with CHS Students

CHS Choir students had the opportunity of a lifetime when they were asked to sing on stage with Matt Vee & The Killer Vees during their presentation of I AM…HE SAID – A Celebration of the Music of Neil Diamond, as part of the Visiting Artists Series. The group was so impressed with the CHS Choir that they asked the Choir Director if the students could perform with them at another engagement later that weekend! The students, however, were already committed to perform elsewhere.
