The High Kings

Ireland’s Folk Band of the Year, The High Kings include members Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Martin Furey and Darren Holden. Coming from accomplished musical pedigrees, The High Kings grew up in households steeped in the Irish musical tradition and each member of the band witnessed first hand the power of well crafted Irish music on an audience. The High Kings demonstrate their incredible versatility and skills as multi-instrumentalists, playing 13 instruments between them and bringing a rousing acoustic flavor to brand new songs as well as some old favorites.

“A Night to Remember”

On December 4, 1956, an event occurred that was beyond music history comprehension. A jam session happened – by pure chance – at Sam Phillip’s Sun Studio that featured Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley! “A Night to Remember” honors the sounds of these legendary Sun Records recording artists giving audiences a peak into a rock and roll royalty jam session with music and talent that has stood the test of time. That includes rockabilly, country, gospel and pure 1950s rock and roll based on the night in Memphis when music legends gathered to jam and record together.

Cherish the Ladies

Taking their name from a traditional Irish jig, Cherish the Ladies began in 1985 with a series of concerts celebrating the rise of female musicians in a once male dominated scene. The group has grown from a one-time concert concept to an Irish traditional music sensation and is the most successful and sought after Irish-American group in Celtic music today. With their unique spectacular blend of virtuosi instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, captivating arrangements and stunning step dancing, this powerhouse group combines all the facets of Irish traditional culture and puts it forth in an immensely humorous and entertaining package.

Mipso

The renegade traditionalists of Mipso are doing their part to push the Appalachian folk tradition into new territory. With ringing four-part harmonies, singable yet poignant lyrics, and heart melting charisma, this North Carolina four-piece band borrows the best from bluegrass, contemporary country, pop, gospel, folk and American singer-songwriter traditions to create their hallmark sound. The group’s chemistry is undeniable and their friendly banter draws audiences closer, but it’s their award-winning songwriting that has earned them legions of fans. They are truly harnessing the sentimental character of bluegrass and twisting in the hopeful outlook of youth.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy made their debut in Ventura, California in 1993 helping to usher in the swing revival founded on a colorful fusion of classic American sounds including jazz, swing, and Dixieland mixed with the energy and spirit of contemporary culture. The band has built a career through relentless touring and an impressive discography including the platinum selling Americana Deluxe and follow-ups This Beautiful Life and Save My Soul. With their recent twenty-year anniversary and new CD Rattle Them Bones, the nine-piece band showed that it is very much like a fine wine or spirit that gets better with age.

Steep Canyon Rangers

A North Carolina bluegrass band at their core, the Steep Canyon Rangers effortlessly walk the line between festival favorite and sophisticated string orchestra. They’re as danceable as the most progressive, party-oriented string band, and equally comfortable translating their songs for accompaniment by a full symphony.

It’s that mix of serious chops and good-natured fun that earned the Steep Canyon Rangers the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2013 (for the album Nobody Knows You), and that drew celebrated comedian/banjoist Steve Martin to them when he needed a backing band. – By Stratton Lawrence

Dallas String Quartet – Electric

Dallas String Quartet – Electric is a Dallas-based, international ensemble playing contemporary music on electric string instruments. With amplified instruments, this dynamic, young group brings new life to music from artists like Maroon 5, Guns N’ Roses, and Bruno Mars.

Comprised of violinists Tatiana Glava and Melissa Priller, violist Ion Zanca and cellist Gaston Colloca, DSQ takes you on a journey to the nexus of classical music and modern pop where artists like Beethoven and Bono collide. They have already released three albums and have a huge following on Pandora, Sirius XM and other radio stations.

Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, considered one of the finest orchestras in the country, returns to the Cedarburg PAC for a special holiday concert. The MSO continues to reach new heights under the dynamic leadership of music director, Edo de Waart, who returns for a seventh and final season with the orchestra.
